Elk Grove Schools Placed On Lockdown Following Report Of Gun

ELK GROVE, CA -- Two schools in Elk Grove were placed on a precautionary lockdown Wednesday after it was reported that a student brought a gun on campus. The lockdown was issued for Cosumnes Oaks High School and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School around 1 p.m., according to officials at Elk Grove Unified School District.

At 2:40 p.m., officials lifted the lockdown as a gun was not found.

The district released a statement saying all students were safe.. Twitter users, some of whom appeared to be students, also posted about the lockdown online.

Consumnes Oaks High is located on Lotz Parkway, with Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School less than a mile away.
