Kids Get Lessons From Elk Grove NFL Star Briggs

Chicago Bears star and Elk Grove native held youth camp Saturday.

Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs and other pro and college players and coaches taught local youngsters the fundamentals of football on a windy day Saturday at .

Briggs, an Elk Grove native who starred at Arizona before making seven Pro Bowls with the Bears, observed drills at his 4th .

"It's important to come back because this is where it all began for me and where it will begin for a lot of kids," Briggs said. "I feel it's important to... teach skills to the kids with some of my friends and teammates."

About 300 kids that participated in the camp took part in drills in passing, receiving and blocking among other techniques.

"I'm here for the experience; I don't get to go to many camps so this is a great opportunity," said Eltoro Allen, 14, who will play running back at Sacramento High School in the fall. "It's amazing to meet NFL talents and get advice on how they made it to the NFL."

All proceeds will go to the Briggs4Kidz Foundation.

Other players scheduled to attend Saturday were Chicago teammates Brian Urlacher and Julius Peppers, Donald Butler of the San Diego Chargers and in Fair Oaks, Seneca Wallace of the Cleveland Browns and Cordova High School, Jon Beason of the Carolina Panthers and Antonio Garay of the Chargers.
