Last Chance: Apply for New Elk Grove Leatherby's

Ice cream parlor will likely open in May, is still seeking employees.

Concerns about its owners' politics aside, the opening of is one of the more hotly-anticipated events in the local food scene (and by local we mean Elk Grove, not those fancy-pants in Sacramento).

A number of you have asking how you can apply for jobs at the new ice cream parlor.  We learned from Leatherby's president Alan Leatherby Tuesday that the family-owned chain hopes to open its Elk Grove location in early May and is still taking applications for ice cream makers, servers, kitchen help and more.

Stop by the still-under-construction Elk Grove restaurant at 8238 Laguna Blvd Suite 240 during the day and fill out an application. If you're lucky you may bump into Alan's brother-in-law Joe, who's doing the hiring and wants to meet each applicant personally.

"We're hiring 100 people and we've probably had 500 applications turned in already," said Leatherby, adding that the management positions have been filled.

Applications are also available at the creamery's two other locations in Arden and Citrus Heights.
