Merryhill Preschool Creates Earth Day Buzz with Ladybug Release

Students celebrated Earth Day by releasing ladybugs in their schoolyard to help local vegetation

Students at Merryhill Preschool on Harbour Point Drive in Elk Grove have been buzzing with excitement for Earth Day! On April 22, students celebrated Earth Day and taking care of the planet by releasing ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Each classroom also planted strawberries, tomatoes, green beans and bell peppers in their garden boxes.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
