Sacramento Airport to Receive $16 Million

SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento International Airport will be awarded over $16 million in grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to rehabilitate the taxiway on the east side of the airfield, Rep. Doris Matsui (D-CA) announced Thursday.

"The Sacramento International Airport serves as a critical gateway to our regional economy," said Congresswoman Matsui. "The improvements made possible by this grant will ensure the airport's continued efficiency as it meets the transportation needs of visitors, residents, and businesses alike. I will continue to ensure we are committing the federal funding needed for our local transportation infrastructure projects, which remain an important building block in our region's economic success."

“Sacramento County is grateful of the efforts made by Congresswoman Matsui to secure Federal funding for this vital project,” said Sacramento County Airport System Director John Wheat. “Maintaining a safe and efficient airport system is Sacramento County Department of Airports’ highest priority. The County looks forward to a successful project and thanks Congresswoman Matsui and her staff for their support as well as the Federal Aviation Administration for providing the grant.”

The total cost of the project is $35 million.
