Sacramento Food Bank Receives 640 Turkeys for Thanksgiving from Foster Farms
Foster Farms' 10,000-Pound turkey donation to Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services kicks off annual Thanksgiving turkey drive

Today, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) received a 10,000-pound turkey donation from Foster Farms. The donation of 640 turkeys will be distributed in the coming weeks to help feed Sacramento-area families this Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is traditionally a time for families to gather around a meal, yet 17 percent, approximately 245,000 individuals in Sacramento County are food insecure. Statewide, 13.5 percent of Californian households were food insecure at some time last year.
SFBFS’ Vice President of Communications & Marketing Kelly Siefkin was in attendance to receive the donation and speak to the area’s level of food insecurity. Siefkin encouraged all community members to make additional turkey and food donations in the coming weeks.

This is one of eight donations to West Coast food banks as part of Foster Farms’ annual tradition to help address the growing issue of food insecurity. Collectively, Foster Farms is donating more than 4,200 turkeys – or 67,000 pounds of turkey – helping to serve more than 70,000 holiday meals.
SFBFS is hosting its 9th annual Turkey Drive on Friday, November 18, from 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at its Oak Park campus, at 3333 Third Avenue in Sacramento.
