5 Things: Camels, Commute, Community, Cuttings, Contest and More
Patch's quick take on the essential things to know, the most interesting things to do and best places to be on Wednesday, July 24.

If you have an event you'd like us to consider for Five Things, be sure to add it to the events calendar. We check it often!
- Wednesday is Hump Day, as that camel in the insurance commercial on TV keeps reminding us. Everything is downhill from here to the weekend. So make sure to check our live traffic map, above, before you leave the house for your commute.Â
- Encino Neighborhood Council meets 7 p.m. at the Encino Community Center, 4935 Balboa Blvd. Encino. Click here for the agenda. All meetings are open to the public. You are a community-minded citizen, aren't you?
- LYFE Kitchen, a low calorie quick-serve cafe from a couple of ex-McDonald's McMayors who've seen the light, is having a soft opening today at 18700 Ventura Blvd., Tarzana. There will be a kitchen sprout cutting at 2 p.m. Sure beats an old fashioned giant scissors and red ribbon cutting.
- Moviefone, one of our sister AOL sites, is giving away free tickets through Sept. 3. So, head on over to the Moviefone website and enter. The grand prize is free movie tickets for a year. You can also see if you’re an instant winner of one of 10,000 movie tickets. You can come back every day and try again.
- Have something to say? An event to promote? Be sure to check out the free boards feature of Encino-Tarzana Patch and speak your mind or promote your cause!
