  • The Solar Cooker Project of Jewish World Watch celebrated its five-year anniversary last week. The project provides the women of Darfur with solar cookers as a way to remain safely inside the refugee camps where they live rather than having to leave to collect firewood where they often are raped and beaten. The program serves over 90,000 refugees in four refugee camps in Chad.

  • Mark your calendars! Guest artist, David Gallup, will conduct a demonstration on oil painting techniques at the June meeting of the San Fernando Valley Art Club.  The session will be held on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Encino Community Center located at 4935 Balboa Blvd.
