1. The local air quality reading is moderate, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD). This means the air quality for our community today is acceptable; however, some people who are unusually sensitive to ozone may experience respiratory symptoms, according to AQMD

2. There will be a NextGen Leadership Luncheon in Los Angeles today at noon featuring City Attorney Carmen Trutanich. The event, hosted by the Center for Asian Amerian United for Self Empowerment, is open to law professionals, law students, and anyone interested in local politics. There are a couple seats remaining. 3. The Los Angeles Dodgers will be playing the New York Mets at Dodgers Stadium at 7:10 p.m. Â

4. Mark your calendars: At Cal State Northridge’s next CSUN-al Gardening Series event, Edgar Valdivia, a long-time member of the California Rare Fruit Growers Association, will discuss some of the most popular types of fruit trees and how to select the kinds best suited for the San Fernando Valley on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 to 11 a.m.
5. The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 94 degrees today. The low will be around 68 degrees.
