Today is National Doughnut Day, the Sparks season opener and the Nell and John Wooden Friendship Games.

The opening ceremonies for the Nell and John Wooden Friendship Games will begin this morning at 9:30 a.m. on the playground at Lull Special Education Center in Encino. The event is a partnership between the John R. Wooden High School, a continuation school for who have been kicked out of regular high school, and the Lull Special Education Center for disabled students. Starting today through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pierce College Farm Center is having the free Rockatomics Gem and Mineral Show. This show happens only once a year.
