UPDATE: Fire Near Mandeville Canyon Is 100% Contained

The fire burned through more than 40 acres of brush.

A fire that burned more than 40 acres of brush near Mandeville Canyon was 100 percent contained by Wednesday afternoon morning, authorities said.

"LAFD remains on scene of this lengthy mop-up ensuring no hotspots," LAFD spokesman Erik Scott said.

Los Angeles firefighters were fighting the blaze since it was reported Monday at 4:10 p.m. The firefighters were working overnight Monday and Tuesday to fully extinguish the fire.

No injuries or damage were reported. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Mandeville Canyon Road, which had been closed, was reopened Monday night to residents, according to the LAFD. Those residents must be ready to show identification, fire officials said.

To help fight the fire, two Super Scooper water-dropping aircraft were used. The cause of the fire was unknown.

Monday's fire sparked memories of the 1978 Mandeville Canyon fire that destroyed 230 homes and damaged 45 others.
