It's Hot Out! Cool Down with Some Lemonade That Helps a Good Cause
California Pizza Kitchen is donating lemonade sales to a foundation to help combat childhood cancer.
To celebrate National Lemonade Day on August 20, (there are branches in and on Ventura Boulevard) is hosting a weeklong fundraiser to support the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and its mission to find a cure for childhood cancer.
From August 20-24, participating locations will donate 100 percent of lemonade sales to the foundation, which began with one girl’s dream of selling lemonade to help out children with cancer. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
By grabbing a glass of lemonade, locals will be able to quench their thirst in the summer heat and benefit childhood cancer research.
