Chris Brown Holds Yard Sale At His Home, Drawing Crowds And LAPD

The Grammy award-winning singer advertised a yard sale at his Tarzana home on Twitter, and fans and bargain hunters lined up overnight.

TARZANA, CA — Dozens of fans lined up around Chris Brown's Tarzana home overnight in anticipation of the Grammy Award-winning singer's yard sale "featuring significantly marked-down high end designer items."

Brown posted a flyer to his Twitter account announcing the unusual sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at his home at 19602 Citrus Ridge Drive. Shoppers were allowed in 10 at a time. Police are not happy about the stunt.

"First come first served," the announcement read.

According to USA Today, some drover from out of state to shop Brown's yard sale while others took the day off work.

Symone Maddox of San Bernardino told the newspaper she took off work to get some hats and hoodies. “I already told my boss, she told me to bring something back,” Maddox said. “I think this is a dope opportunity to be personal with his fans,” she added

It was unclear if Brown, 30, was home during the sale. Fans began lining up outside the singer's home Tuesday night. And the crowd attracted the attention of police.

According to TMZ, Los Angeles Police officers sought to shut down the sale for lack of a proper permit, but Brown's attorney pushed back and the sale was slated to go on as planned Wednesday morning.

Police are very familiar with the property, having investigated allegations ranging from sexual assault to illegal exotic animal-keeping. Brown infamously was convicted of domestic violence for attacking then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Rihanna accused Brown of brutally beating her as they drove away from a party the night before the Grammy Awards.

Photos later released showed bruises and swelling on Rihanna's face. She claimed he also put her in a head lock and caused her to nearly lose consciousness, and a police report said Brown threatened to kill her.

Brown later claimed Rihanna threw a phone at him, began yelling at him, tried to kick him and then hit him. He said he responded by hitting her with a closed fist, cutting her lip. He then claimed she spit on him and he became more enraged.

Brown pleaded guilty in June 2009 to a felony and was sentenced to five years' probation, community service and domestic violence counseling.

Brown won the 2012 Grammy for Best R&B album and has won four American Music Awards, the most recent in 2016 for Male Artist Soul and R&B.
