Councilman Paul Koretz Cuts Ribbon on Renovated Encino Park & Ride Lot [Video]

Councilman Paul Koretz cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Encino Park & Ride lot on Hayvenhurst Avenue in Encino Thursday, declaring the lot open after a year of work.

The Encino Park & Ride lot serves riders of LADOT Commuter Express Routes 423, 549, 573 and 574, which take commuters to Burbank, Pasadena, Glendale, Downtown LA, Century City, Westwood, El Segundo and LAX.

The lot now has more spaces (160 as compared to the previous number of 106), two electric vehicle chargers, improved lighting, a bike storage area, improved landscaping, and two electronic signs that tell customers when the bus is on its way. 

Koretz said the project "was the result of several different agencies working together for a common goal, in particular, LADOT, the Department of Recreation & Parks, the Bureau of Engineering, the Bureau of Contract Administration, Department of Recreation and Parks and the Army Corps of Engineers."

James Lefton from LADOT, Rebecca Abano from the Bureau of Engineering and Charlene Lee Lorenzo from the Federal Transit Administration were also in attendance at the opening.

According to Koretz, the project cost $1million, which ran below original estimates. Federal Transit Administration funding was nearly 30 percent, Federal Earmark funds provided another 30 percent and local Prop A matching funds covered the remainder of the project costs. Costs ran below original estimates, Koretz said.
