CPK Opens Prototype Restaurant at Westfield Topanga

In addition to the main dining area, a 1,000-square-foot bar with seating for 39 has been built in the mall space outside the restaurant.

California Pizza Kitchen opened a new prototype restaurant Wednesday in "The Canyon" at the Westfield Topanga mall in Canoga Park.

Instead of the slick, modern interiors that CPK diners have come to expect, the prototype decor features a rustic and rough design including recycled wood from old railroad trestles and tabletops made from barn doors. There's also a host stand featuring chalkboard signs and a wall of basil, sage and fennel.

The 5,351-square-foot eatery seats 150 diners and features a family-style table for 16, as well as booths and bar tables.

The pizza counter has been redesigned so diners can interact with the pizza chefs as they hand-stretch and toss the restaurant's new-recipe pizza dough.

In addition to the main dining area, a 1,000-square-foot bar with seating for 39 has been built in the mall space outside the restaurant. The full restaurant menu and a selection of cocktails is also available there.
