Encino Little League 9-11 All-Stars Finish Third In State
Team Goes 10-3 En Route to District and Section Championships
Encino Little League’s 9-11 All-Star team finished third in the state with a 10-3 record, wrapping up an impressive run during which they won both their little league district and sectional tournaments to earn the opportunity to square off against the best in the state. The team begin its impressive run with a 6-2 win over Woodland Hills in District 40 play. Many more highlights followed, including an 8-4 win over Sherman Oaks to win District. Encino then rolled through the sectional tournament undefeated, culminating in a 7-0 win over Quartz Hill in the championship game. The state championship game will feature Sweetwater Village LL, against whom Encino dropped a close 2-0 game, and Aliso Viejo LL. Encino defeated Aliso Viejo to open State play but lost the re-match.
Ten of this year’s All-Star players were returnees from last summer’s 8-10 All-Star team that also finished third in the State: Luc Olson (P/OF), Connor Pink (2B), Anthony Ruggier (2B/SS/P), Ryan Wolk (C), Maxwell Madnick (3B/2B/P), Trevor Grana (OF), Kaiden Sanchez (SS/2B/P), Andrew Nelson (C/OF), Mason Gavin (OF/3B/P), and Daniel Williamson (P/1B). The newcomers were Isiah Carroll (3B/1B/OF/P), Nathan Conmy (OF), Roman DaPonde (1B), and Hunter LaPlante (2B/OF/P).
The Encino 11u All-Star coaching staff was composed of manager Andrew Williamson, coaches Stephen Bishop and Brad Wolk, and special assistant Frank Ruggier.
