Gelson’s Host Seasonal Hatch Chiles Roasting Festival

Seasonal produce is a hallmark of Gelson’s, and this time each year its stores celebrate something special from the American Southwest... Hatch Chile season!

Grown in Hatch, New Mexico, Hatch Chiles are a mildly hot yet savory pepper that, when perfectly roasted, yields a uniquely delicious flavor, both spicy and sweet. While the Hatch Chile Festival annually attracts thousands of visitors from around the world to this small farming community every Fall, Gelson’s brings its own festival to pepper-loving customers across Southern California.

During a brief season each year, Gelson’s hosts “Hatch Chile Roasting Events” at a variety of locations. Sample Hatch Chile specialty items, learn about the growing process, and receive serving and cooking ideas from experts. Among its special Service Deli items, try the Hatch Chile Salad, Hatch Chile Cornbread, Hatch Chile Sausage or Hatch Chile Quiche for a flavor pop that enhances these classic dishes. Have fresh Hatch Chiles roasted for free at the store for inclusion in your home recipes: from omelets and baked chicken to salsa and guacamole.

Don’t miss out on this seasonal celebration, taking place every Friday and Saturday at various Gelson’s locations, for five weekends only, from August through September 10:
