Letter: Boost Our Economy During 'Carmageddon'

In 1984, the politicians told us all to stay home because the 1984 Olympics were going to make Los Angeles a big parking lot. We know now they were all wrong. An unknown businessman named Peter Ueberroth came to town, put on the successful Los Angeles Olympics, and left us with a surplus of $250 million.  

Any politician or so-called community leader who tells us to stay home or jump in the pool has to have their head examined. This weekend I plan to go to the famous Falcon Theatre in Burbank. I plan to enjoy the musical Fleetwood Macbeth, featuring the wonderful music of Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks.  

On Saturday morning, I might even travel by residential streets west to the Sherman Oaks Farmers Market. I am sure Carole Gallegos, the former Studio City market manager, will have a 405 special for all market visitors.  

I will follow that with a stop at Bob's Big Boy, and have a cheeseburger with fries and a shake. If I am not too tired I will drop by Bokados, the excellent Spanish restaurant on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, owned by Frank Leon.  

We need to quit complaining, spend a few dollars to stimulate our economy, and be thankful we do not live in Syria, Iraq, Mexico or Somalia, where humans are pork rinds. No stay at home, no pool, no sit on my butt. I am going out to enjoy my city. The 405 construction project will take care of itself.
