Local Student's Self-Portrait Chosen for Photo Exhibit

This week's Encino Whiz Kid is Skylar Battles.

Age: 14

School: Westmark School

Accomplishment: Her photograph, above, was selected by a professional jury to be in a photography exhibit on Dec. 11 at the Julia Dean Photo Workshops in Venice. The photo is a self-portrait that Skylar took last year. Among 159 entries, including works by adult photographers, her portrait was one of the top 10 chosen.

Key to Success: Skylar's perserverance and the creative way she looks at the world around her.
