Masonic Relief in the Philippines Provided by Valley Masons

It is a duty of Freemasons to relieve the distresses of others.

Members of Clarence F. Smith Daylight Lodge #866, Free and Accepted Masons, Grand Lodge of California, which meets in Van Nuys, CA (“CFS Daylight Lodge”), embarked upon an international relief plan, which has now come to fruition, for the benefit of desperate families overseas dealing with the pandemic.

Brothers of CFS Daylight Lodge endeavored to raise funds and obtain relief goods for international distribution to families living under the direst circumstances in the City of Bacoor, Province of Cavite, Republic of the Philippines.

Their effort helped more than 100 families in Bacoor Cavite.

CFS Daylight Lodge was assisted by Masons of Pintong Bato Lodge #51, F. & A.M., Grand Lodge of the Philippines, in Bacoor Cavite, which helped to procure and distribute food staples and sanitizing products that were paid-for with donations from the Brothers of CFS Daylight Lodge. Masons from Pintong Bato 51 included Brothers Alvin Hipolito and Arthur Santos and others. Two Masons from CFS Daylight Lodge, Brothers Noel Esperitu and Noli Sanchez, also went there to help.

Freemasonry is a fraternity based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to help make the world a better place while being devoted to his family, faith, country, and fraternity. The fraternity is committed to making a difference in the world through community service, volunteerism and charity.

Its principal tenets are “Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.”

CFS Daylight's Junior Warden, Fernando (“Jhonny”) O. Lebrilla, Jr., who organized this effort, said this about his idea to provide relief internationally:

“We as Free and Accepted Masons firmly believe that inclusion and diversity compel us to be a more innovative and creative organization. We have a personal commitment to ourselves, our community and this country. I believe that our commitment goes beyond our borders too. "

CFS Daylight Lodge was formed in 2017 and is comprised of an extraordinarily diverse group of good men in Southern California. They come from here, there and everywhere, including the Philippines, the Middle East, and many other places. Freemasonry celebrates ethnic diversity and welcomes men of all racial and religious backgrounds. In its diversity is its strength.

CFS Daylight Lodge helps out locally of course. In this instance, it made sense for the members to focus their attention abroad. The situation is extremely difficult for the poorest of the poor in the Philippines who benefited from this relief effort.
