Tarzana Man Sentenced for Fatally Shooting Ex-Wife, Wounding Her Boyfriend

The shooting on Dec. 15, 2012, at a home in the 4500 block of Vanalden Avenue brings Hrant Meguerian a sentence of 23 years.

A Tarzana man was sentenced Tuesday to 23 years and four months in state prison for fatally shooting his ex-wife and wounding her boyfriend.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Joseph Brandolino imposed the term on Hrant Meguerian, 60, who pleaded no contest Sept. 23 to one count each of voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder.

The shooting occurred Dec. 15, 2012, at a home in the 4500 block of Vanalden Avenue.

Police said Meguerian argued with his ex-wife's friend, then pulled out a gun and opened fire. The 51-year-old woman died at a hospital, and her boyfriend survived being shot in the back.
