The USC Trojans opened the 2018 college football season at the Los Angeles Coliseum in grand style with a 43-21 victory over the UNLV Rebels. The Trojans were led on offense by a trio of players from Mater Dei High School in Orange County. Heralded JT Daniels, a true freshman, lived up the hype, completing 22 of 35 passes for 282 yards with no turnovers in his college football debut. His favorite target was Amon-Ra St. Brown, another true freshman from Mater Dei. St. Brown caught seven passes for 98 yards in his first college game, including a touchdown. Mater Dei alum Chase McGrath also excelled, kicking five field goals in the Trojans victory.
USC travels next week to take on Stanford in what should be a tougher test for the Trojans. The game will be televised on FOX. Kickoff is slated for 5:30 PM on September 8.
