Valley Masons Pursue Happiness over the Fourth of July Weekend
Freemasonry gives men the tools to pursue such happiness.

VAN NUYS, CA – Masons of Clarence F. Smith Daylight Lodge No. 866, Free and Accepted Masons (“CFS Daylight Lodge”), continued their efforts to spread the cement of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth – and thus pursued happiness – by videoconferencing with one another, and some friends, on Friday evening, July 3, 2020.
The Grand Master of Masons in California has not yet permitted Masonic Lodges to resume normal meetings and activities.
Consequently, CFS Daylight Lodge, formed in 2017, did the next best thing – meeting for fellowship via Zoom – to celebrate Independence Day.

The video conference was attended by members and also by applicants for membership in the Lodge.
Freemasons do not solicit members. Men must seek membership on their own initiative.

However, interested individuals are welcome to reach out -- for information about Freemasonry -- to individual Masons, to local lodges, or to the Grand Lodge of California which has updated its website for the public at http://freemason.org .
Masonry is not a religion; it is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization, promoting diversity and tolerance and advancing the belief that each man has a responsibility to help make the world a better place.
CFS Daylight Lodge, even during the COVID-19 emergency, continues its work in that regard, by, among other things, celebrating public schools and providing relief to unfortunates affected by the pandemic. Members of the Lodge also continue to pursue happiness, as provided in the Declaration of Independence, with family and friends (in small numbers, at a safe distance, and with masks); with regular phone and video conference contact among members; with the conduct of their usual vocations to the extent permitted by the situation; even with self-reflection as they try to find peace, harmony and balance in a difficult year.

As noted in the Declaration of Independence, signed by several Freemasons: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
