Wind Advisory Issued For Encino-Tarzana

Heavy winds will buffet the San Fernando Valley Region through Tuesday thanks to the Santa Ana winds.

ENCINO-TARZANA, CA — The Santa Ana winds returned to the Southland Monday bringing cold gusts and wind advisories expected to last over the next couple of days.

Around Los Angeles County, heavy gusts are forecast for the San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area, Santa Clarita Valley, and the Los Angeles County Mountains, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts reaching 40-60 mph could create dangerous conditions in those areas. The wind advisory is slated to remain in effect through 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Thanks to recent rains, this Santa Ana wind storm is not likely to create a major fire danger.

While wind is one ingredient in fire danger, firefighters are not immediately increasing deployments, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Imy McBride.

"The fuel moisture is just too wet," McBride said. "We just had rain."
