Escondido Commission OKs Major Housing Development
A proposal to build 380 homes on the grounds of the former Escondido Country Club moved forward.

ESCONDIDO, CA -- A proposal to build 380 homes on the grounds of the former Escondido Country Club moved forward on Tuesday night.
The city's Planning Commission approved the proposal brought forth by New Urban West by a 5-1 vote, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The controversial proposal comes two years after a similar idea was presented to the city.

The proposal received mixed reviews from residents with about half in favor, according to the newspaper.
If approved by the City Council in November, the developer would build the homes on 109 acres of land, while some of the land will be used as open space.
