Pedestrian Hit By Pickup Truck In Escondido

A 48-year-old man suffered severe injuries Wednesday when a pickup truck hit him on Midway Drive in Escondido.

ESCONDIDO, CA — A 48-year-old man suffered severe injuries Wednesday when a pickup truck hit him in a North County intersection.

The pedestrian was crossing Midway Drive in Escondido about 6:45 a.m. when he was struck by the 2006 Nissan Titan, whose 25-year-old driver was making a right-hand turn onto the street from eastbound Valley Parkway, according to police.

Medics took the victim to Palomar Medical Center, where he was admitted in critical condition, Lt. Scott Walters said.

It was not immediately clear who was at fault for the accident. Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation Wednesday afternoon, Walters said.
