Restaurant Week 2019 Starts Soon In Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – Escondido’s sixth annual "Dine Out Escondido! Restaurant Week" kicks off Jan. 27 and runs through Feb. 2 with more than 30 diverse eateries throughout town participating.

As no tickets are required, patrons simply can arrive and request the Dine Out Escondido specials.

Many of the participating restaurants will donate $1 of every special they sell during the week to the North County Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provides weekend backpacks filled with food to elementary school children living in poverty.

“With over 30 local eateries offering unique specials, our restaurant week gives everyone the perfect excuse to finally get out to that great restaurant they haven’t tried yet, all while giving back to kids’ programs at the North County Food Bank,” said Katherine Zimmer, tourism manager for the City of Escondido.

During last year's restaurant week, $2,235 was raised, the equivalent of feeding 12 children for an entire year, Zimmer said, adding that she would like to double that number this year.

“We are very grateful to the restaurants that are supporting our North County Food 4 Kids Backpack Program through the Dine Out Escondido! campaign," said James A. Floros, Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank CEO. "Children on the program receive free meals at school during the week, but face hunger over the weekend when school meals are unavailable.”

New to Dine Out Escondido! this year is the addition on the Kynbo restaurant app with each restaurant listing their full menus, as well as the restaurant week specials.
