Sacramento Police received a call about a stabbing following a physical altercation at 12:46 a.m. early Thursday morning near 21st Street and K Street, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The victim had been stabbed “multiple times in his upper body,” according to the statement.
The assault was not related to a terrorist attack, and alcohol is thought to be a factor, Sacramento Police said in a follow-up statement on Twitter.
Stone, an Airman 1st Class from Carmichael, was one of three Americans credited with taking down a gunman on a high-speed train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris on August 21.
During the train attack, Stone was stabbed with a box cutter and needed surgery.
