Deputies Arrest Man Charged in Fatal Foothill Farms Shooting

One woman dead has been identified, child injured

Sacramento County Sheriff’s homicide detectives have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in Foothill Farms on Sunday that claimed the life of an adult female and injured a female child.

John Murdock Pierce, 36, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on one count of murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon, said Dep. Jason Ramos.

At about 11:12 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call on the 5300
block of Valparaiso Circle and found a female victim dead of a single gunshot wound and a female child that had sustained a single, non-life threatening wound.

Sacramento County coroners have identified Tiffany Marie O'Hanlon, 37, as the woman fatally shot Sunday, allegedly by Pierce, her husband, The Sacramento Bee is reporting.

Pierce is suspected of shooting O'Hanlon and his 11-year-old daughter, The Bee said.

The girl, who rain to a neighbor's house, was shot in the arm, deputies said. She is expected to recover from her injuries.

The name of the girl has not been released.

Pierce was detained at the scene and, after being interviewed by homicide detectives, was booked into custody. Pierce is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, The Bee said.
