Fair Oaks Photo Studio Helping Women Embrace Their Sensual Side

Joleen Vincent defines her style of photography as a deconstruction of female stereotypes and a call for them to embrace their feminine side.

Though she believes it's difficult to define the type of work she does, the Fair Oaks native and California State University, Sacramento graduate describes herself as a fine art photographer for "brave and sensual women."

Vincent opened her boutique in her hometown in the early part of February 2013, and she feels confident that her local ladies are ready to embrace their sexier side.

"The brilliant thing about what I do is that it appeals to a wide range of women in all shapes, sizes and ages," said Vincent. "This experience is for any woman who wants to treat herself well."

But getting anyone to bare all or even their negligee comes with a certain ... panache, to say the least.

"I specialize in working with women to show them that the lies they tell themselves are just that: Lies," Vincent said. "While I’m in the studio creating heirloom pieces of artwork, I want to give women a safe place to trust me (and themselves) and embrace their feminine side -- a place to throw caution to the wind and be passionate and fearless about who they are."

Vincent's clients receive a pre-session consultation, which means she calls them, and they chat about what they can expect. She notes that most of her clients have never done a boudoir session before, so they have no idea what to expect.

"I’m there to hold their hand every step of the way," she said. "I listen and make suggestions and advise clients on wardrobe and lingerie."

By the time her clients arrive at the studio they already feel comfortable because she's prepared them for the big day, Vincent said.

"All boudoir sessions include complimentary hair and makeup, so my clients can sit back and relax," Vincent said.

Is Fair Oaks ready for that level of preparation, though? Vincent thinks so.

"I know the women of Fair Oaks are ready to feel sexy, pampered and celebrated," she said. "My clients are real-life soccer moms, CEOs and lawyers; some live in sweat pants and some live in high heels."

"It’s an amazing, positive, reinforcing experience for all women and it’s just a matter of time before area residents are embracing fine art photography for the brave and sensual."
