Food for the Needy: Help Jesuit Students Hit Their Big Goal

They're hoping to bring in 70,000 pounds of food this year.

Jesuit students are hoping to collect 70,000 pounds of food for people in need this holiday season. Over the past 49 years, they've collected more than a million pounds in this annual holiday effort.

That food will go to the Stanford Settlement – a not-for-profit social services organization in Northern Sacramento, according to KCRA.

Jesuit’s principal shared the following message on Dec. 6:

Dear Parents,

In the spirit of the season, I am writing to ask for your help once again this year.

For our entire 49 year history, Jesuit High School has partnered with the Stanford Settlement.  This year we are collecting food donations to provide food for the holidays for more than 700 families.

Presently, we have approximately 12,000 lbs. of food, which is far short of our 70,000 lb. goal.  We are asking our young men to help us reach our goal over the final three days of collection.

Stanford Settlement will accept any non-perishable food items you can provide – canned goods, baby food, dry goods, rice.

These items are being collected in a truck next to the soccer field in our Gordon Lane parking lot.

[The last day to collect is Tuesday, December 11. Items are accepted between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m.]

Thank you for your generosity in helping us partner with Sr. Jeanne and the Stanford Settlement as we strive to be “Men and Women for Others.”

Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Brianna K. Latko
Principal
