Grade the Public Official: SJUSD Interim Superintendent Glynn Thompson

He's had to take on some weighty, sometimes controversial topics since taking over the position last year.

When teachers and staff from the San Juan Unified School District were faced with the , Interim Superintendent Glynn Thompson had to break the news, effectively becoming the lightning rod for dissatisfaction with district priorities. This was after taking the temporary position in August 2011.

. Tensions never seemed to flare to the point of boiling over, though.

San Juan Unified School District's Board of Education authorized a full search to recruit and select the next superintendent. This is a lengthy process which is anticipated to end in April with the selection of a superintendent. The application period has closed and the Board has reviewed all submissions. An announcement may be made between April 14 and 24.

In his time as the interim superintendent, Thompson oversaw the third largest school district in Sacramento County, with a population of more than 47,000 enrolled students. (Click here to read more about him).
