Local Non Profit Seeks Nominations for Student Grants Program

Funding for students in need of financial assistance to participate in sports, music, art, dance and leadership programs.

The Wish List Project is seeking nominations for students ages 5 to 22 years in need of financial assistance to pursue educational and extracurricular activities in the Sacramento/Placer region. Preference will be given to students from low income families. Past funding has been given for sports team fees, camp registration costs, music lessons, youth leadership training, books and technology, and 4H program fees, among others. Spring applications are being accepted February 15-March 31, 2017 and funding will be distributed in May 2017.

The Wish List Project is a community organization focused on providing access to educational resources, extracurricular activities and youth development opportunities for underserved youth and low income families in the four county area. Launched in April 2013 by Sheila Hull-Summers, a former classroom teacher and her friends, the first grants were funded in the Fall of 2013 with 45 nominations submitted by area professionals and child advocates.
