It's been said that tough times call for tough measures.
The ongoing recession, a weak housing market and high unemployment have forced cuts to California's schools. Officials have already forecast a $15.7 billion deficit for next year's state budget.
The financial doom and gloom has been impacting the San Juan Unified School District for months. Two weeks ago the district board and the San Juan Unified Teachers Union reached a two-year agreement, addressing the state's economic shortfalls that impact the district budget. The agreement would include should Governor Jerry Brown's $6.9-billion tax hike fail to pass the vote.
