Sacramento Darwin Day

Annual Darwin Day Birthday Gala

For the 19th epic year, local science advocates and civic groups join hands to bring you the go-to event of
science and human reason, the Sacramento Darwin Day Birthday Gala. This one will marks C. Darwin’s 207th birthday.

Darwin Day is a science-rush like no other, an annual celebration honoring of the life and work of the great Charles Darwin (b. 12 February 1809), sponsored worldwide by community and educational groups, and inspired by the International Darwin Day Foundation (http://darwinday.org/).

Festivities will include entertainment and displays. Feature speaker will be Dr Matthew J James, Geology Department
Chair of Sonoma State University, presenting his entertaining talk, “Collecting Evolution: The untold story of the
vindication of Charles Darwin”.

Rounding it up will be more entertainment, snacks, and of course, yummy birthday cake -- it is Darwin’s birthday,
after all!

Tickets: $10 thru Feb 1, $15 at door, or $10 with Student ID

Location: John Smith Hall, La Sierra Community Center, 5325 Engle Road, Carmichael, CA 95608
