5 Things to Know in Fair Oaks and Carmichael This Week


National Night Out: Is your neighborhood holding a barbecue or block party for National Night Out? Neighborhoods throughout the country come together in an effort to bring crime-prevention awareness. It starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 in multiple Fair Oaks and Carmichael neighborhoods. Find out more here.

Fair Oaks Concert in the Park: The 8-Tracks will perform during Fair Oaks Concerts in the Park at Village Park, 4238 Main St. at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.

Carmichael Concerts in the Park: There are two summer concerts at Carmichael Park this weekend, both at 6:30 p.m. The first is Saturday, Aug. 10 and features "Roni & the Flight" and the second is Sunday, Aug. 11 featuring "Todd Morgan & the Emblems.

Perseid Meteor Shower: Viewers should be able to observe around 60 "shooting stars" per hour during this year's Perseid Meteor Shower. The best days to see them in Fair Oaks and Carmichael will be Sunday, Aug. 11 and Monday, Aug. 12. Read more about the shower here
