Two Busted For Allegedly Trying To Buy Car With Dead Person's ID In Vacaville

Police arrested two Sacramento residents at a car dealership in Vacaville Saturday when they allegedly tried to purchase a car using a dead person’s identification.

Police responded at about 5 p.m. to the dealership in the 600 block of Orange Drive with the help of an alert employee. Officers contacted the suspects just as they were leaving, and a records check revealed that both of them had outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

They were allegedly found to be in possession of numerous credit cards and forms of identification that didn’t belong to either of them, according to police.

Police booked Bryan Newman, 56, and Tiombe Rankins, 36, into the Solano County Jail.

Police arrested Rankins on suspicion of identity theft, burglary, fraud and violating the terms of her probation. Officers arrested Newman on an outstanding warrant, police said.
