Victory Christian Valedictorian Likes School's Small Size

Good things come in small packages.

Take . The small private school on Garfield Avenue in Carmichael has about 120 students in high school, with about 30 graduating Friday.

"I like how the school is small," said Nick Palomo, VCS' valedictorian. "I know everyone."

Palomo ran on the varsity cross country team and was team captain his junior and senior years. He has also served as student council treasurer and student body president and been a member of the VCS honor society.

Like many VCS students, Palomo has attended the school for several years- 14 for Nick.

"The teachers, staff and my coaches feel more like mentors than overlords," he said. "They offer great advice."

Palomo will attend the University of California, Davis where he will major in neurobiology, physiology and behavior.

"I'm definitely excited to go to college; I know my school has prepared me well," he said. "But I'm still going to miss my teachers, fellow graduates and classmates."
