Amer Legion Auxiliary Unit 82 Announces Girls State High School Delegates

San Mateo American Legion Auxiliary Women's Unit 82 named its three delegates to represent the Unit and their high schools at Girls State (California) in a week-long program in SoCal starting today. The prestigious Girls State leadership program increases awareness & knowledge of government processes while emphasizing the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship. The three San Mateo delegates will join 535 other Californian girls in Claremont, CA this week and elect their California representatives for Girls Nation which will be held in Washington, DC.
The San Mateo Auxiliary Unit 82 is one of the most active in the county. Members regularly volunteer at both the Menlo Park and Palo Alto VA medical facilities, collect toiletries & clothing for veteran patients, assist patient families with supplies, and co-host barbecues with the American Legion Post 82 at the Menlo Park facility.
