Footage From Foster City Highway Can Help Solve SMC Assault Case

Police are trying to solve a sex assault case. Can you help?

SAN MATEO, CA — The San Mateo Police Department is asking for help with catching a man who allegedly posed as a rideshare driver and sexually assaulted a woman recently. On Thursday, the agency requested some people with surveillance cameras review their footage for possible evidence.

The assault was reported around 7 p.m. Aug. 14. Police say a woman near the 1400 block of Fashion Island Boulevard called to report she had accepted a ride from a man who said he was with a ride-share service.

He then drove her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her, police said. The woman was able to escape and called police with help from a passerby.
