HIP Housing's Free Home Sharing Program
HIP Housing's programs create housing opportunities for over 1,000 people in San Mateo County each year.
I work with a nonprofit called HIP Housing. We are working alongside San Mateo County to make it easier for people in the Bay Area to find a place to live. If you’d like to learn more about our program or if you’d like to come in and make an appointment you can reach our Office Manager at 650-348-6660.
HIP Housing is a trusted local partner that has provided housing and Home Sharing Services in San Mateo County since 1972. HIP Housing's Home Sharing Program is supported by the County of San Mateo and all of its cities. We make finding a housemate or trying to rent out a room in your home a safe and easy process.
Homeowners or renters who have a residence with one or more bedrooms are matched with people seeking housing who currently live, work or attend school in San Mateo County. Home Sharing Coordinators interview and screen applicants; conduct local background and reference checks; develop a comprehensive "Living Together Agreement" that spells out the terms of the living arrangement; and provide ongoing follow-up support.
