New Pedestrian-Safety System Coming to Foster City

Two intersections are getting the "Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacons," and parking may be disrupted during installation.

FOSTER CITY, CA — Two Foster City intersections will be getting new pedestrian-safety systems to increase driver awareness, according to the city.

Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacon Systems, known as RRFBs, will be installed at the crosswalks of Beach Park Boulevard and Halibut Street as well as Beach Park Boulevard and Teal Street. RRFBs emit flashing yellow warning lights to drivers when activated by pedestrians.

The work involves minor demolition, traffic sign and RRFB installation, and surface restoration.
