“We’ve designed a modern, environmentally conscious space that puts member care first on our Redwood City campus,” said Dr. Grace Firtch, physician in chief of the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center. “The convenience of over 30 medical specialties in one location will support collaboration among colleagues who were previously separated across our medical center campus and provide an even better experience for our patients.”

In addition to provider offices, there will be a café, gift shop, free Wi-Fi, and USB charging stations built into the furniture.

Reflecting Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the new medical offices is expected to achieve the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold-level rating developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The gold-level rating is for water use efficiency inside and on outdoor landscaping, placing parking underground, scaling the building to the neighborhood, energy efficient heating and cooling, and the use of recycled materials for interior furnishings

Plans are in place to expand even further with the addition of a large open-air plaza that will include a children’s play area, farmers market, and seating area on the Thrive Drive and Veterans Boulevard side of the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center campus.

“This new medical office building is jumpstarting many exciting plans for our Redwood City campus,” said Sheila Gilson, senior vice president and area manager at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City. “We want to provide our members with exceptional care and be the health provider of choice in the community.”
