Peninsula Thunder Spreads Holiday Cheer

Foster City/San Mateo's Peninsula Thunder U16 soccer girls teamed up on Sunday to create holiday cards for peninsula veterans. The young ladies crafted 100 cards (several in Braille) for residents of the Menlo Park Veterans Administration facility. In partnership with San Mateo's American Legion Auxiliary Unit 82, the cards will be distributed in December with gifts and toiletries supplied and collected by the Auxiliary ladies. The Auxiliary is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to assisting current military personnel and veterans. Unit 82 fulfills its mission by providing daily necessities (toiletries, gift cards, clothing, etc.) to veterans and their families, regularly visit VA facilities, and supports American Legion Post 82 when called upon.
