Spotted in Foster City: A Double Rainbow
Did you see the double rainbow over the Peninsula?
FOSTER CITY, CA- Seeing double is not always a bad thing. In this case, one local resident captured a double rainbow on camera during last week’s showers around town. No reports have been made whether or not there were two pots of gold at the end of these rainbows...
What causes a double rainbow? According to weather.com, the two rainbows appear “when refracted light does not escape the raindrop after being reflected the first time.”
The first rainbow is considered the “primary rainbow” and the secondary displays the reverse colors of the primary rainbow due to the unique refraction.
