Suspect Sought In Wallet Theft From Gym Locker On Peninsula

SAN MATEO, CA —Turning to the public for assistance, the San Mateo Police Department on Thursday released surveillance photos of a suspect wanted in connection with $4,000 in fraudulent spending after a reported theft of a wallet and credit card from a gym in San Mateo, according to authorities.

Officers were called July 29 to the YMCA on 1877 S. Grant St. in San Mateo after a locker break-in was logged, along with a stolen wallet containing credit cards, the San Mateo Police Department said.

The victim's credit card subsequently was used on a $4,000 shopping spree for electronics, police said.

The male suspect was described as approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 220 pounds with dark short hair, a full beard and a medium complexion, reportedly last seen wearing a white, button-up shirt, blue pants and brown shoes, the agency said.
