405 Closed, Frozen Custard, and Love for Lefties

Here's what you need to know for today in Fountain Valley: 

1. Gridlock'd. Prepared to go to LA this weekend? Don't. The busiest stretch of freeway in the nation will close for 20 hours for construction. The 405 freeway will be closed in both directions from 9 p.m. Aug. 17 through 5 p.m. Aug. 18, from the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway to Valley View Street in Westminster.

2. If ice cream isn’t enough of a cold treat …:  If you're a fan of cold custard or Pennsylvania, or just like vertical green stripes, you'll want to know about Orange County's first Rita's location. The dessert shop with a cult following is now open in the Kaleidoscope center off Crown Valley Parkway..

3. Unplug on vacation...or not. Some companies are trying unlimited vacation to keep their workers happy. The good part? Take off whenever you want. The downside? Employees tend to work more during vacation.

4. Quirky day alert: Be kind to southpaws. Today is Lefthanders Day. Give them a lefty shake and make them feel good.
