Fountain Valley Surf Band Named Best in OC

The Originalites, a band that includes three Fountain Valley musicians, won Best Surf Band Saturday night during the 2013 Orange County Music Awards.

Bassist Tim Frankeny, drummer Peter Fontes and guitarist and vocalist Daniel Tello all graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 2008. Vocalist and saxophone player Mike Belk is a Huntington Beach native who attended Marina High School.   

The band plays many local venues including, Anaheim House of Blues and the Conservatory—and the group has been on two US tours. 

Their first album, the Originalites Volume 1, was released in February of 2012 and can be found on iTunes.
