DUI Checkpoint Schduled for June 29

The Fountain Valley Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, June 29 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The location of the checkpoint will be made available the day of the checkpoint by contacting the police department.
The department is continuing its ongoing campaign to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol-involved collisions. DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as bring awareness to our community of the dangers of impaired driving.
Over the course of the past three years, DUI drivers have caused 83 injury collisions, resulting in injuries to 107 Fountain Valley residents.
Alcohol-related deaths make up the largest category of vehicle fatalities with 29 percent of all deaths caused by a drunk driver. Additionally, drivers will be checked to ensure that they have a valid driver's license.
