Here's what you need to know for today in Fountain Valley:
1. The Falls Fire has burned 1,500 acres of the Cleveland National Forest as of midnight Tuesday morning near Lake Elsinore. The Ortega Highway is closed to everyone but residents and two communities have been evacuated, and is expected to remain closed for days.Â
2- Movies in the Park kicks off tonight with a showing of Shrek, in conjunction with National Night Out, a community outreach event sponsored by local law enforcement. The family festival starts at 6 p.m. at Fountain Valley Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst Street. Click here for more info.Â
3. Farewell Fair! This week is your last chance to catch this year’s Orange County Fair. The fair runs Wednesday through Sunday with pig races, deep-fried food, carnival rides, exhibits and more.Find schedules, directions and more info here.
4. Don’t Eat the Fish: The California Environmental Protection Agency issued an advisory warning children and women of childbearing years to avoid bass, carp or trout larger than 16 inches caught in California waterways because the fish contain unhealthful levels of mercury. The warning apparently does not extend to adult men. What is not good for the goose is OK for the gander.

5. So Fresh and So Clean: Break out the Listerine, Binaca or Scope. Today is Fresh Breath Day. Come to think of it, every day should be Fresh Breath Day.
